Privacy Policy

This website is run by Shemanta Bhowmik, a freelance WordPress developer (“I”, “me”). I am the data controller for personal information collected through this site. You can reach me at hello@shemantabhowmik.com.

Information you give me. When you use the contact form, you share your name, email address, the type of project you need, an optional budget range and your project details. If you email me or book a call, I receive the details you choose to include.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the server records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you visit and the time of your visit. My security plugin uses this to block attacks and spam.

I do not use analytics, advertising pixels or tracking cookies, and I do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

• To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote or proposal.
• To deliver and manage projects you hire me for, including invoices and support.
• To protect the website from spam, brute-force logins and other abuse.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

I never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and I will not add you to a mailing list without your clear permission.

If you are in the UK or European Economic Area, I rely on the following legal bases: taking steps at your request before entering a contract (answering enquiries and quoting), performance of a contract (delivering projects), legitimate interests (keeping the site secure) and legal obligation (keeping business records).

This site only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work and stay secure:

• Security cookies set by Wordfence to tell real visitors apart from bots and to protect the login page.
• WordPress login cookies, which are only set if you log in to the admin area.

Because these cookies are essential, they do not require consent. You can still block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although parts of the site may not work properly.

A few trusted services help run this website. Each one handles data under its own privacy policy:

• Google Fonts delivers the site typefaces, which means your browser connects to Google servers and shares your IP address.
• Cloudflare cdnjs delivers animation scripts. Your IP address is visible to Cloudflare when these files load.
• Calendly handles call bookings. Information you enter when booking is collected by Calendly, not by this site.
• LinkedIn is linked from the site. Visiting my profile is governed by LinkedIn’s own policy.
• My web hosting provider stores the website and its server logs.

• Enquiries that do not become projects are deleted within 12 months.
• Client records such as contracts and invoices are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 7 years.
• Security logs are kept for a short period and then deleted automatically.

The whole site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection. It is protected by a web application firewall, brute-force login protection, regular malware scans and up-to-date software. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but I take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information I hold about you.
• Ask me to correct or delete it.
• Object to or restrict how I use it.
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where I rely on consent.
• Complain to your local data protection authority.

To use any of these rights, email hello@shemantabhowmik.com. I will respond within 30 days. California residents have equivalent rights under the CCPA, and I do not sell or share personal information as defined by that law.

I work with clients worldwide, and some of the services listed above store data outside your country. Where this happens, I rely on providers that use recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

I may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
